I type this letter with the deepest sadness in my core, but it’s something we have to do. We’ve decided to take a step back from The Butterfly Family Fund. To take some time to figure out what all of this really means. I think we all understand the feeling of wondering if we are enough. Are we doing enough? Are we impacting enough people? Are we truly making enough of a difference? You all mean the world to us, and to me, but I have to take a moment to re-evaluate the mission of The BFF and determine whether or not it’s sustainable. In a world that can be so corrupt and cruel, we will remain true to our values. Values instilled in the notion that if you are able to do something you should, and to do it because you want to make a difference. Not for notoriety, not for credit, not for selfish gain. To do something to make an actual difference. Not decades from now. Now. To those that have mentioned us, talked about us, shared personal stories about us, donated to us, purchased wishlist items from us, volunteered with us, and supported us, you have no idea how much you mean to me and will always mean to me. I hope with so much of me this isn’t goodbye, but I can’t keep asking myself why. (fb)
