AB 347 (Kalra), The CLASS Act, ensures K-12 students receive written notification of their right to opt out of animal dissection and makes any violation of this right addressable through the state’s uniform complaint procedures. Today, the bill passed the Assembly Appropriations Committee unanimously. “Despite current law granting students the right to opt out of dissection, many students—and even their teachers—are unaware of this right,” said Judie Mancuso, Founder and President of Social Compassion in Legislation, cosponsor of the bill.
