Medtech VC perspectives and advice from our recent Fundraising Workshop. Thank you Christopher Shen, Susan Stimson, and Cynthia Yee for sharing thoughtful insights about the entire process - from making a connection to closing the deal. 🤝 Networking and personal connections are key to finding and connecting with investors. Warm intros and referrals from trusted sources like friends and KOLs carry the most weight. 🤝The biggest factor in securing a meeting is whether your company aligns with the fund's sector and investment strategy. For a reality check, look at the portfolio companies listed on the VC’s website. 🤝 In the meeting, explain why your market and technology are compelling. Cover reimbursement, clinical trial strategy, and exit strategy, and leave enough time to discuss financing. Pro tip – ask the VC team what they would like you to cover and adjust your presentation accordingly. 🤝 This is a long-term relationship, so make sure your team dynamics are seamless and engaging. Balance being confident and passionate with being open, humble, and responsive to feedback. Avoid defensiveness. 🤝Be prepared to provide investors with full transparency and access to information, even if it's not all perfectly polished. 🤝 When you know it’s a go: There’s a tipping point where a VC partner goes from being skeptic to a champion who is batting for you internally. When you see that shift, you should be working in concert with that person to get your deal over the finish line. (fb)
