The AI revolution is not going to happen; it is happening. Join us online on May 4th for our Symposium Series: Artificial Intelligence and Our Psychoanalytic Future from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. ET to discuss the anxieties, promises, and losses on the horizon. This dynamic, virtual symposium will include: presentations by CAI Co-Chairs, Todd Essig, Ph.D. and Amy Levy, Psy.D., access to a short list of documentaries and news articles that illustrate and dramatize people having emotionally significant relationships with A entities, and an opportunity to submit your questions to the committee for response in a post-event article. CME/CE CREDITS: 2 | To learn about the CE credits available, visit the APsA CE Website. "There are good reasons to be skeptical of, and cautious about, the actual capabilities of these technologies. But I believe there is also an unparalleled opportunity. Leveraging advances in machine learning may be one approach for furthering psychoanalysis as the science of the unconscious that Freud envisioned. There are many exciting possibilities at the intersection of machine learning and psychoanalytic processes. In my own research, I have used machine learning-based software (Hinduja et al., 2023) to characterize nonverbal behaviors of young adults and their clinical interviewers during suicide assessments; the deep learning-based software I use codes facial and head behavior for every frame of video, which, when applied to videos with a frame rate of 30 frames per second, captures moment-to-moment affective information impossible for humans to grasp." - IIana Gratch Read the article "Walking the Tightrope: Bridging Machine Learning and Psychoanalysis" The CAI Report Issue 2 https://apsa.org/bridging-ml-psya_gratch/ #APsA #psychoanalysis #TheCAIReport #publication #machinelearning #artificialintelligence (fb)
