A "DOTBRAND" IS A DELEGATED TOP-LEVEL DOMAIN THAT IS IDENTICAL TO AN ORGANIZATION'S NAME OR BRAND THAT THE ORGANIZATION OWNS OR HAS RIGHTS IN. A "DOTBRAND" ALLOWS A BRAND-HOLDER TO OPERATE ITS OWN REGISTRY AT THE ROOT OF THE INTERNET (INSTEAD OF USING LEGACY TOP-LEVEL-DOMAINS, SUCH AS .COM, .ORG, OR .BIZ). COMPANIES FROM DIFFERENT INDUSTRIES APPLIED FOR THEIR DOTBRAND IN 2012 AND OVER 550 ARE NOW LIVE, PROVIDING A TRUSTED SPACE WHERE BRAND OWNERS HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE DOMAIN ALLOCATION THAT SUPPORTS THEIR BUSINESSES.
