MABA was founded in1957 by a group of Mexican American attorneys who saw the need to create an organization committed to empowering/educating Latino communities THE SPECIFIC AND PRIMARY PURPOSES FOR WHICH THIS ASSOCIATION IS FORMED SHALL BE TO ADVANCE THE SCIENCE OF JURISPRUDENCE; TO PROMOTE THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE; TO ENCOURAGE A COMPREHENSIVE LEGAL EDUCATION; TO MAINTAIN THE HONOR AND DIGNITY OF THE LEGAL PROFESSION; AND TO CULTIVATE SOCIAL INTERACTIONS AMONG ITS MEMBERS.
