Community cat caregivers are often misunderstood, sometimes seen as a nuisance by the public. But when done right, their role is invaluable—not just to the cats they care for, but to the community as a whole. Each day, they stop to provide fresh food and clean water, but their work goes far beyond that. They keep a watchful eye on the colony, conducting wellness checks to ensure all cats are safe and healthy, and staying alert for new arrivals who may need help. Often caregivers need help then they rely on local trappers. If action is needed, they step in, keeping both the cats and their environment well-maintained. Tri-pod is a perfect example of their impact. She is recovering from her amputation surgery and will be returning home soon—back to a colony where every member has been trapped, neutered, vaccinated, and returned, thanks to these dedicated caregivers and trappers.
