Living out every aspect of being a church where people know they matter has always been of utmost importance to us. And to do that we commit ourselves to consistently assessing barriers that might be in the way of fulfilling that mission. Rising to the top was a very revealing pinch point we needed to take action on…and that was shifting from being a place that accepts children with disabilities to being a place that completely accommodates and welcomes families with these circumstances. So we got to work. Under the Lord’s provision, a leadership team formed, needs were outlined, volunteers were trained, programs were developed and a well equipped ministry extension rolled out, ready and willing to meet the need of every fearfully and wonderfully made child that entered our doors. To this day, it still brings tears to our eyes remembering what we used to have to say no to, that now is a confident yes, no matter the circumstance. One in 5 U.S. families has a member with a disability. One in 5. That’s a staggering number that we are simply unwilling to rule out. Sacrificial. Committed. Tireless. Inspiring. We’re so blessed to be surrounded by a community of people who portray these traits. And every year, we take a moment to say thank you. Yummy food, a few laughs, a look back at the past 12 months and a time of worship. We keep it simple, meaningful and filled with gratitude. This year’s servant towel award went to Tom & Michelle Stricker…a long standing couple of our church who went above and beyond in this past season to give selflessly of their time and talent to further His Kingdom. So faithful and so deserving! Whether you were able to attend our Creekers Night or not, we applaud each and every one of you who say yes to a need, an opening, a sub request, a teaching role or a leadership position.
