The Shenandoah Valley Mountain Mountain Music Assoc. D/b/a (Shenandoah Music Trail) SMTrail identifies venues and musicians of Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. "Mountain Music" includes a variety of acoustic musics of the United States Appalachian region. Organization was formed in 2009 out of love and respect for the Valley's music to: 1. Promote an appreciation of the multi-faceted, textured nature of Mountain Music, 2. Promote an appreciation of the cultural centrality of Mountain Music in Virginia’s Appalachian region, 3. Educate the public about the role and meaning of music in the history and cultural communication, 4. Preserve and foster this important cultural medium, 5. To bring together musicians and their audiences. Of particular note is our commitment to programming in underserved communities, highlighting the richness of the music, promoting understanding of this medium as central to mountain culture and history, and providing education about the important role of music in sustaining and enriching mountain culture.
