The North Strabane Township Swift Water Rescue team departed at 4:30 am for Garrett County, Maryland, in response to Region 13's request for swiftwater technicians and boats. Crews were tasked with searching areas affected by yesterday's flooding. Our personnel collaborated with Lower Kiski Swift Water Rescue and Maryland Swift Water Rescue Teams, operating under Garrett County EMA's direction. Crews were assigned to enter the creek from the top to assess a bridge for potential damage and check on residents in the impacted area. Crews encountered swift water conditions with unforeseen hazards. The crews returned to quarters this afternoon. (fb)

At approximately 10pm last night a request was received by Region 13 for assistance in Garrett County, Maryland. The request was for water rescue assests to respond to assist with searching flooded areas of the County caused by the torrential rains yesterday. Today at 4am North Strabane water rescue personnel left quarters to team up with other Region 13 personnel and fill the assist. The operational period began at 6am and will carry through the day. We wish a safe return to our personnel and all of the public safety personnel currently operating in those hard hit areas. We also extend our sincere condolences to those affected by the flooding.
