The Chicago State University Foundation helps one student at a time raising money for scholarships and programs that empower our students to succeed. The Chicago State University ("CSU") Foundation, Inc. is a private non-profit corporation with assets of nearly $3 million and an endowment nearing $2 million. It was chartered in 1967 and incorporated in December 1968 as an independent, charitable, organization to secure, hold and administer funds and properties given by individuals, corporations and philanthropic foundations in support of Chicago State University and its affiliated organizations. Such gifts provide needed funds for scholarships, fellowships, faculty development, academic programs and research, modern equipment and more, initiatives for which state general operating funds are often not available. The Foundation seeks private support for purposes particularly central to the teaching, research and service mission of the university. With state funds accounting for less than 50% of the actual costs of a CSU education, funds raised by the Foundation are the margin of excellence in providing undergraduate and graduate instruction; basic and applied research, and; program outreach and support that benefits students, faculty and the greater world community in which Chicago State exists as an intellectual and economic contributor.
