On May 1, The Ireland Funds will recognize the contributions of three outstanding leaders in the fields of business, healthcare, sports and equality at its 47th New York Gala. The Ireland Funds Distinguished Leadership Award will be presented to Pfizer and accepted by Chairman & CEO, Dr. Albert Bourla. Pfizer is one of Ireland’s leading employers and was among the first pharma companies to set up in Ireland where today it employs over 5,000 people in Cork, Dublin and Kildare. The Ireland Funds Humanitarian Award will be presented to Sports Icon & Equality Advocate Billie Jean King. As the founder of WTA, The Women's Sports Foundation and The Billie Jean King Foundation, Billie Jean has dedicated her life to championing equal rights for all and fighting injustice and discrimination worldwide. This award will be presented by Robert Kraft, Chairman & CEO of The Kraft Group & Affiliates and Founder of Stand Up to Jewish Hate, followed by a fireside conversation with Norah O'Donnell, CBS News Senior Correspondent and 60 Minutes Contributing Correspondent. The Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Leadership Award will be presented to Tom Quinlan, President & CEO of RR Donnelley. As President & CEO of RRD, a global provider of marketing, packaging, print, and supply chain solutions, Tom leads RRD’s team of 37,000 employees in 27 countries across the globe. A champion of The Ireland Funds, Tom has played a pivotal role in advancing our work through his leadership, generosity and commitment to our mission by serving on our Board for almost a decade. We hope you will join us on May 1 at Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers for this landmark evening which will support The Ireland Funds’ work of increasing access to education, advancing peace and reconciliation, nourishing Irish arts and culture and strengthening community development. March was a month filled with support and celebration at The Ireland Funds. From Young Leaders events in Boston, New York City, and Chicago, to galas in San Francisco, Pittsburgh, and Washington, D.C., we thank everyone who joined us in support of peace, culture, community development, and education across the island of Ireland. At The Ireland Funds 33rd National Gala in Washington, D.C., our friends and supporters came together to raise over $1 million toward our mission. This, and every event we held, strengthens The Ireland Funds' work to make a lasting impact in communities. Thanks to your generosity, our successful season will translate into positive outcomes for the hundreds of nonprofits we support. THANK YOU. (fb)
