We're a leading voice for housing, economic and social justice in Chicago's northern suburbs. RTs ≠ Endorsement. Formerly Interfaith Housing Center of the NS. Open Communities' mission is to ensure that housing in north suburban Chicago is fair and inclusive. Open Communities works to eradicate housing discrimination and unjust practices that perpetuate segregation and inequity. We foster thriving, inclusive communities through fair housing enforcement, housing counseling, education, outreach, and advocacy. To further these goals, Open Communities engages in activities that encourage fair housing practices including housing counseling services, community education, fair housing compliance investigations and enforcement, as well as advocacy to make our communities more welcoming for everyone.
