In this Sacred Circle Conversation, Moderator Rev. Charline Manuel, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Parliament of the World Religions is joined by Great Grandmother Mary Lyons, Ojibwe Elder; Dr. Catherine Meeks, Founder and Director, Turquoise & Lavender Institute; and Kehkashan Basu, Founder and Director, Green Hope Foundation. The speakers discuss the importance of honoring Mother Earth, as well as how we do so, with a large focus on environmental sustainability, personal responsibility, and intergenerational communication. The conversation touches on various topics including the role of spirituality and creativity in achieving a more sustainable future; and that by honoring Mother Earth, we also honor each other and ourselves. Speakers emphasize the importance of reconnecting to nature and to each other, as well as taking action to create positive change in the world. Listen for more! (fb)

Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, 69, of the United States has been elected the 267th pope, and he is now known as Pope Leo XIV. He is from Chicago, Illinois, and is the first ever pope from the United States. Addressing the crowd in St. Peter’s Square, he said, “we have to seek together to be a missionary church. A church that builds bridges and dialogue”; and called on people to “show our charity” to others “and be in dialogue with love”. We at the Parliament of World’s Religions extend our heartfelt wishes to Pope Leo XIV, and hope that he is granted all the strength, compassion, and wisdom the world needs at this time from a global leader. Accessibility Tools There is a principle which is found and has persisted in many religious and ethical traditions of humankind for thousands of years What you do not wish done to yourself do not do to others. Or in positive terms What you wish done to yourself do to others. This should be the irrevocable unconditional norm for all areas of life for families and communities for races nations and religions. Earth cannot be changed for the better unless the consciousness of individuals is changed.
