The purpose of California Alliance of Self-Insured Groups is:1. To sponsor educational conferences and programs to benefit and enhance the administration of Self-Insured Groups (SIGS);2. To provide a forum for SIGS to exchange information on mutual issues arising in the administration and operation of SIGS;3. To work effectively in initiating legislation and/or administrative policies and/or regulations and provide support for or opposition to legislation affecting program of SIGS;4. To provide accreditation standards and award certificates of Accreditation to SIGS which meet those standards; and5. To act as a peer resource to members in administering SIG programs.

Because of the implementation of open rating in 1995 rates declined to historic lows over the next few years. As a result employers did not begin to take advantage of the money saving opportunities group selfinsurance offered until 2002 when the first group workers39 compensation program was approved.
