Tzu Zoo Rescue
Tzu Zoo Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming homeless Shih Tzus and Lhasa Apsos. It operates as an all-volunteer rescue and foster care organization based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas.
Mission and Activities
The mission of Tzu Zoo Rescue is to match these animals with ideal, loving forever homes. The organization works closely with local animal shelters to prevent unnecessary euthanasia of stray, abused, or abandoned pets. Once rescued, the dogs receive immediate medical care, including vaccinations, heartworm testing, urgent dental care, and spay/neuter services. They are then placed into foster care where they receive love and attention similar to a cherished family pet.
Tzu Zoo Rescue also conducts temperament evaluations and behavioral modification as needed to ensure each dog finds a compatible home. The organization educates the public on important animal care practices such as spaying/neutering, vaccinations, heartworm prevention, regular veterinary care, good nutrition, regular grooming, and microchipping. They emphasize the importance of adopting rather than purchasing pets from breeders.
Operation and Impact
Tzu Zoo Rescue serves several counties in Texas, providing a vital service to the local community by giving second chances to animals in need. The organization relies on donations and volunteers to continue its work and has helped numerous pets find new homes each year.
Financial and Organizational Structure
Tzu Zoo Rescue operates with an annual budget between $250,000 and $499,999. As a recognized charitable organization, donations made to Tzu Zoo Rescue may be eligible for tax deductions.
Adoption Process
The organization has a detailed adoption process to ensure that each dog is matched with a home suited to its needs and personality. Prospective adopters undergo a comprehensive evaluation, including the submission of references and medical records, to ensure the best possible match for both the adopter and the dog.

Introducing Lil Missy. Her destiny is to be Queen of the household. She expects her “Helpers” aka family to be home at her beck and call a large part of the time. She will associate with “Commoners” aka other pets as long as they are aware of her royalty status. Lil Missy is not a fan of harnesses or leashes, so must have a secure yard to go potty. She does use potty pads with miderate accuracy. We also prefer she not be crated and no young children living in the home. She is petite and could easily be hurt if dropped or roughly handled. 💖🐶🐶 All of our dogs are in loving foster homes in the Dallas Fort Worth area. tzuzoorescue.com (fb)

Jay Jay (top photo, middle pup)love being the center of attention in his new family. It will be a daily party for this family. Tommy Lee ( bottom photo on right) also added to a multi dog family and could be more excited he’s home. Congratulations to these to boys!!! (fb)
