Founded by Dr. H. T. Ma in 1961 COS works 1.) to motivate young musicians of different skill levels to navigate in the language of music, to improve against their own past standards. 2.) to nurture children & youth 18 year & under through the gentle & firm guidance of COS faculty and artistic advisory board members. 3.) to reach out to young musicians of all levels with "fire in the belly" & limited financial means through scholarships. 4.) to provide solo, chamber music & orchestral performance opportunities for members in community settings and major concert halls. 5.) to inspire young musicians through master classes & through performing with world-renowned concert artists.
