CAF athlete Mandy Salas wanted to make a BIG impact for Stanford University's Beyond the Farm event this year! She and CAF’s Senior Manager of Operation Rebound, Nico Marcolongo, gathered a crew of volunteers to help improve accessibility at Angel Force Ranch, a retreat center in Pine Valley that will help veterans from all over the world. In 2012, Juliette was in a riding lawn mower accident that resulted in the amputation of her right heel and four toes on her left foot. After years of limited mobility and pain, she chose to have her right leg amputated below the knee in 2024. Later that year, she discovered wheelchair basketball through ParaSport Spokane, finding confidence and community on the court. With a CAF grant for a new basketball chair, Juliette hopes to continue traveling with her team, improving her skills, and pursuing a college basketball scholarship! (fb)
