The National Alliance on Mental Illness NAMI is the nations largest grassroots mental health organization. It was started in 1979 in Madison Wisconsin by two mothers who were looking for help with their sons. NAMI provides advocacy education support and public awareness for people whose lives are affected by mental illness.
