Chicago English Bulldog Rescue Inc NFP

Overview

Chicago English Bulldog Rescue Inc NFP is a U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of English Bulldogs. The organization focuses on providing foster care, medical services, and counseling to at-risk surrenders. It operates in the Chicago area and surrounding regions, including parts of Northwest Indiana, the Chicagoland suburbs, Milwaukee, and Madison.

Mission and Operations

The mission of Chicago English Bulldog Rescue is to address the needs of English Bulldogs who are victims of neglect, homelessness, or medical issues. They strive to match rescued dogs with suitable adoptive families based on the dog's background and the family's lifestyle, ensuring a permanent and loving home for each animal. The organization's careful approach to adoption includes considering factors such as a dog's personality, temperament, energy level, medical needs, and compatibility with children and other pets.

Funding and Financials

Chicago English Bulldog Rescue relies heavily on contributions and grants for its operations. The organization's revenue primarily comes from donations, program services, and fundraising events. For example, in recent years, it has received grants from organizations such as the American Online Giving Foundation and the Mead Foundation. As of 2023, the total revenue was approximately $236,000, with contributions constituting a significant portion of this amount[1][2].

Governance and Leadership

The organization is governed by a board of directors, which includes long-standing members like Molly Marino, who has been involved since 2007. The board ensures ethical practices, formal orientations for new members, and regular assessments of performance and governance. The leadership roles within the organization are uncompensated, reflecting a strong volunteer ethos among its members[3].

Adoption Process

Prospective adopters must submit a comprehensive application, which is reviewed to ensure the best match between the dog and the adoptive family. The organization prioritizes well-thought-out applications and maintains a database for future matching opportunities[4].
