Founded in 1947, the unit was initially organized to provide volunteer assistance in the recovery o In 1947 Telford Diving Unit was founded because of a need to recover drowning victims, especially from quarry drownings, over the years the Unit has succeeded in recovering hundreds of victims. Based out of Harleysville PA since 1974, the unit has responded to many emergencies local and afar, traveling through out Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Maryland as well as to Canada. Expanding the capabilities of the Unit has incorporated that of water rescue and drown proofing the community, teaching people the rights and wrongs of being in or near water.
