National Center for Boundless Playgrounds Inc
For every child, a place to play:Every child! Every ability! Everywhere! All children navigate their world through play. However, more than one in ten children in the U.S. have a disability that makes it hard or impossible for them to play on traditional playgrounds. Each year, thousands of community playgrounds are built that exclude children with disabilities. Boundless Playgrounds is committed to developing sustainable solutions to address the injustice of children with disabilities being denied the opportunity to play, a basic human need that improves their quality of life.To address this issue, Boundless Playgrounds was established as a nonprofit organization. Boundless Playgrounds helps communities create extraordinary playgrounds where all children, with and without disabilities, can develop essential skills for life as they learn together through play. Today, there are more than 120 Boundless Playgrounds in 24 states and one Canadian province, with dozens more underway. The organization currently receives numerous requests for help and information each month from communities throughout the United States and around the world. We estimate that our 80-plus Boundless Playgrounds have affected thousands of children's lives, but with 45 million children ages 2 - 12 years old in the US, we have more work to do and more communities and individuals to educate. We envision a society where everyone everywhere is welcomed and empowered to contribute because children of all abilities grow up playing and learning together on Boundless Playgrounds, celebrating similarities and differences and developing essential life skills. Together we can make a difference in the lives of children of ALL abilities.
