At Ochsner 65 Plus - Lafreniere, nursing is more than a profession; it’s a purpose driven by compassion, dedication and the desire to make a difference. This Nurses Week, we celebrate five extraordinary nurses: Betty McCall, Angel Robert, Kim Vincent, Barbara Pilie and Margie Leblanc. Their expertise and empathy shine a light on the power of care, especially for our aging population. 💙 Betty McCall, RN case manager, has a thoughtful approach to care that highlights her ability to see the person behind the patient. Her compassion creates a supportive environment that helps patients age with confidence and dignity. “I find purpose in nursing by striving to make a meaningful difference in my patients' lives each day,” said Betty. “I aim to provide compassionate, empathetic care, knowing that one day, I too may need the same support to navigate the complexities of aging and the healthcare system with dignity and understanding.” For Angel Robert, RN case manager, nursing is a personal calling, with a mission of every patient feels seen, heard and uplifted in her presence. “I find fulfillment in helping patients feel better about themselves and empowering them through education,” said Angel. “Nursing has been a lifelong journey, inspired early on by my need to support my mother and shaped by mentors. With 30 years of experience, I enjoy sharing knowledge with both patients and colleagues, building meaningful relationships, and making small differences that lead to better health. Though nursing is challenging, it’s deeply rewarding and truly a calling.” Over the years, Kim Vincent, RN supervisor, has developed an understanding of her patients’ needs, always going above and beyond to make a difference. “I believe in caring for the whole person, not just treating medical issues,” said Kim. “Memorable experiences - like helping a displaced elderly couple from Hurricane Katrina or cleaning and supporting a cancer patient in crisis - highlight the importance of compassion and going beyond clinical duties.” Barbara Pilie, RN case manager, shows the importance of mindfulness in nursing and the importance of patient care. “I have recently switched gears in finding purpose in my nursing role. I try to practice mindfulness in my daily workflow,” Barbara said. “Being aware of what I am feeling and what is driving it, while doing patient care, work tasks and daily interactions with my co-workers helps me to better understand my work purpose and the challenges and rewards that come with it. Serving others and helping patients with their health goals is part of this purpose.” Margie Leblanc, RN case manager, went into nursing because of her deep sense of empathy and commitment to caring for others. “After years of caring for my sick father and promising him on his deathbed to pursue nursing, I entered the profession later in life,” Margie said. “That experience taught me the importance of compassion and strength in healthcare. I strive to influence the profession by always putting patients first and leading with empathy. I genuinely enjoy my work at Ochsner 65 Plus, thanks to my wonderful co-workers and patients who make every day rewarding.” Each of the nurses on the Ochsner 65 Plus - Lafreinere team brings unique strengths and perspectives to work every day, creating an environment where patients are met with respect, empathy and support. This Nurses Week, we honor Betty, Angel, Kim, Barbara, Margie, and all the incredible nurses who embody the true spirit of nursing. Thank you! 💙 Explore the nursing opportunities waiting for you at Ochsner Health. https://ow.ly/jcx050VOJyr (fb)
