This could include inability to tolerate a tampon, medical exam, or sexual penetration. Common diagnosis that warrant the use of dilators include: Levator ani syndrome, vaginismus, Meyer-Rokitansky Kuster-Hauser Syndrome (MRKH), Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (AIS), post vaginal birth scarring of the perineum, genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), vestibulodynia, and post cancer treatment including chemotherapy and radiation.
