Everyone Goes Home The Brownsville Volunteer Fire Department founded in 1958 is a fully volunteer notforprofit organization located in the northern Black Hills of western South Dakota. The departments mission is to provide services to our community through protection of life property and valuable resources. The Brownsville Volunteer Fire Department protects a community of approximately 712 primary structures within its 100 square mile fire district. We also participate in Mutual Aid agreements with the surrounding Fire Districts within Lawrence County to support all areas in case extra resources are needed.
