Small town, Shirley, Indiana. This story is a must hear. Brigette Cook Jones has all the story to tell. This will be a don't miss presentation!! AUGUST 2025, Chapel in the Park (fb)

McDonald's in Greenfield opened on October 9, 1973 just south of the Green Meadows shopping center. It was the first fast food restaurant to take advantage of newly opened I-70 interchange in Greenfield. Soon, other fast food chains would follow. John Dresser was the owner of the Greenfield McDonald's. The drive-thru was added in 1976. In the 1980s, The restaurant would expand in the front to increase the dining room space. In 2014, the whole building was torn down and a new restaurant built. It increased the size of the building to 5,600 square feet. The dining room could accommodate 138 people, and a second drive thru lane was added. The parking increased to 45 spaces. The rebranding changed the bright colors of red and yellow with a darker look of stone, and steel. The large M sign out front was removed. Now there are McDonald's locations in Mt. Comfort and New Palestine. McDonald's has been in Greenfield for over 50 years! What is your favorite memory of McDonald's?
