YSB’s “Beating the Odds” program helps young people build a future. When James* turned 18, he aged out of foster care, was never adopted, had no family to call his own, and no place to go. Like too many young people who go through the foster care system, he was at risk of becoming homeless. YSB’s Beating the Odds program was there help James find safe housing and learn how to become an independent, engaged, and responsible adult with a bright future. This transitional living program offers young people ages 18–21 a safe, stable home and the guidance they need to build independent lives. From therapy and case management to life skills training and community service, every part of the program is designed to help them heal, grow, and thrive.
