On this day in 1949 Boulder Park in Indian Falls opened. The park boasted a Ferris wheel and several kiddie rides, but the main attraction was the carousel that had previously been at the New Rialto in Olcott. On this day in 1956 Louis "Captain Lou" Oritz of the Buffalo Bisons had his crowning moment at the second game of a Sunday double-header against the Rochester Red Wings. He hit Johnny Mackinson's undefeated pitch far over the left-field screen for the Bisons' first grand slam homer of the season.
