Members of our Philanthropic Services team had the privilege of taking a hard hat tour of the National Civil Rights Museum's new Legacy Building. It was powerful to get a behind-the-scenes look at this transformative space in progress. The personal home of A.L Aydelott is on the market—a landmark mid-century home and a testament to his architectural legacy. The Community Foundation is proud to be stewards of his philanthropic legacy. The Alfred Lewis Aydelott and Hope Galloway Aydelott Memorial Fund, housed here, is the largest architectural traveling fellowship for students in the United States. Developed to encourage students to become proficient in architectural analysis, the fellowship is open to architecture students at the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, Auburn University College of Architecture, Design and Construction, UT College of Architecture and Design, and Mississippi State College of Architecture, Art, and Design. One student from each of the four universities annually receives a $20,000 Travel Award to complete an independent study of an architectural site abroad. A panel then judges each of the four students’ work to bestow an additional $5,000 on the creator of that year's winning project. (fb)
