🌳🐒#TamarANNEtuesday TamarANNE Tuesday: A Life Lost—and a Reminder Why We Work 🌳This week, our hearts are heavy. 🌳🐒We received devastating news from our team in the field: a critically endangered cotton-top tamarin was struck and killed by a vehicle while trying to cross the road. The tiny tamarin was attempting to move between two forest patches—what should have been a routine part of its daily search for food, family, and shelter. But in fragmented forests divided by roads, such movements can become fatal. 🌳🐒We won’t share the heartbreaking image taken at the scene. It’s too painful. But this tragedy is a stark reminder of the urgent challenges facing cotton-top tamarins and so many other wildlife species. 🌳🐒Why Roads Are So Dangerous for Wildlife When forests are cut into pieces—by roads, agriculture, or development—animals like cotton-top tamarins are forced to travel on the ground to reach other patches of habitat. These journeys are risky. Narrow roads may not seem like barriers to us, but to small, tree-dwelling primates, they can be deadly. A single crossing attempt can end a life, as it did for this tamarin. 🌳🐒This Is Why We Fight for Forests This tragedy underscores why Proyecto Tití’s work is so critical. We’re not only protecting remaining forests—we’re actively restoring and reconnecting them. Our reforestation programs help grow and expand forest cover, while our strategic efforts to build conservation corridors allow tamarins to move safely between forest patches without ever needing to touch the ground. These connections are lifelines for wildlife and essential for the long-term survival of the cotton-top tamarin. 💚🐒🌳How You Can Help Every tree planted, every hectare restored, every connection made between isolated forest patches gives cotton-top tamarins a better chance. With your support, we can expand our restoration and connectivity efforts—ensuring that tamarins no longer need to risk their lives crossing roads to find food or family. 💚🐒Help us turn loss into action. Together, we can build a landscape where tamarins—and the entire forest—can thrive. Happy World Bee Day!⚘️🪻🐝 🐝🏵Did you know that bees and cotton-top tamarins share something in common? They both play essential roles in keeping our forests healthy and thriving! Both bees and cotton-top tamarins pollinate flowers! As they move through the forest, these curious primates love to lick the nectar from flowers. In the process, pollen sticks to their faces and fur. When they visit the next blossom, they help transfer that pollen, just like a bee would! 🐝🌸At Proyecto Tití, we’re always amazed by how even the smallest behaviors can have a big impact on the ecosystem. Alongside bees, cotton-top tamarins contribute to the health and regeneration of tropical forests—making them unexpected allies in pollination. Healthy forests depend on biodiversity, and bees are one of nature’s most powerful allies in sustaining it. 💐🐝So today, we’re celebrating bees for their hard work and reminding everyone that when we protect bees, we’re also helping cotton-top tamarins—and ourselves. This World Bee Day, we’re celebrating all pollinators—from buzzing bees to fluffy-headed tamarins—for the vital roles they play in preserving biodiversity and supporting life on Earth. #WorldBeeDay #ProyectoTiti #CottonTopTamarin #ProtectPollinators #ForestGuardians #ConservationInAction #BiodiversityMatters (fb)
