We have a busy First Friday for all of you! The Alaska State Museum is open with FREE admission Friday, April 4th from 4:00 - 7:00pm. Free Friday Organ Series, Tamara Wilson exhibit walkthrough, and Jim Noel. The walk-through, with Tamara and Addison Field, Chief Curator, will begin at 4 p.m. Wilson will talk about her work and members can learn more about what goes into her creations and the exhibit. Her artwork uses many materials, like remnant tile, truck bed liner, felt, oak, and expanding foam as a way to understand the domestic by pretending and discovering who and what occupies that space. There is no cost to members for this special walk-through tour. If you are interested in attending, please be at the museum a few minutes prior to 4 p.m. Please check your newsletter e-mail to let us know if you will be attending. We hope to see you there! Jim Noel will be performing in the atrium on First Friday Jim has been active on the Juneau music scene for the last 25 years, playing jazz piano, organ and electric bass. In addition to performing, he also composes formal pieces, several of which have been performed by the Con Brio Chamber Series and the Orpheus Project. Connecting people to Alaskas diverse history art and cultures by supporting the Alaska State Library Archives and Museum WHO are the Friends. The Friends of the Alaska State Library Archives and Museum FoSLAM works hard to support and promote the myriad of amazing activities that take place in the library archives and museum located in Juneaus Andrew P. Kashevaroff APK building. Our goal is to provide a longterm funding source for special events guest speakers and artists and to purchase of statewide historical objects and fine artwork that are beyond what the annual State of Alaska budget can provide.
