There is a strong, local reason why school days are canceled when road conditions are bad. When I came to work in Gladwin 20 years after this incident, it was still fresh in the minds of many local residents, and I heard very little complaint about school snow days. This article was published in the January 17, 1951 issue of the Gladwin County Record. There are still local families who feel the profound loss from that tragic day. (fb)
