There is a strong, local reason why school days are canceled when road conditions are bad. When I came to work in Gladwin 20 years after this incident, it was still fresh in the minds of many local residents, and I heard very little complaint about school snow days. This article was published in the January 17, 1951 issue of the Gladwin County Record.
