Founded in 1970 with the understanding that media and the arts are powerful forms of storytelling, VC creates cross-cultural connections between peoples and generations. We believe that anti-Asian sentiment is a systemic outcome of the repeated erasure of our histories and the presentation of perilous narratives about communities in media. Our strategic and responsive action is to engage and empower our local communities through education, dialogues, and coalition building based on shared values.

SURRENDER: What We Carry and How We Heal ❤️🩹 In Surrender, Jess Dang delivers a courageous and deeply personal feature debut that pulls back the curtain on addiction, caregiving, and the pressure to appear perfect. Expanding upon her acclaimed short film of the same name, Surrender follows Naomi, a high-functioning Asian American woman navigating a hidden gambling addiction while caring for her family and maintaining the illusion of control. The story’s expansion from short to feature format allowed for a deeper exploration of Naomi’s internal conflict.

This collection celebrates the creativity, thoughtfulness, humor, and unwavering commitment to storytelling that enriches our understanding of these diverse cultures. After the screenings, engage with the directors during a Q&A session where they’ll share insights into their creative processes and the stories that matter to them.
