Springfield International Folk Dancers
The Springfield International Folk Dancers (SIFD) is a nonprofit organization located in Springfield, Illinois, that has been a vibrant part of the local artistic community since its founding in 1975.
Mission and Activities
SIFD's mission is to educate people in Sangamon and surrounding counties through dance and costuming, drawing from the rich cultural heritage of the world. The organization offers regular rehearsals where participants can learn a wide range of traditional dances without prior experience. These rehearsals foster an environment of cultural exchange, socialization, and physical activity.
Dance Repertoire
SIFD boasts a diverse repertoire of dances from over 20 countries, including:
