When the Governor of New Jersey identified Atlantic City as an area in urgent need of food assistance, Virtua’s Eat Well team didn’t hesitate, they mobilized. With just weeks to act, they devised a thoughtful, coordinated plan to support the community. Their first step: organizing a large-scale turkey and fresh produce giveaway to ensure 500 families had access to nutritious food ahead of Thanksgiving. But that was only the beginning. Recognizing the need for ongoing access to healthy food, the team took swift action to expand their impact. Although the Eat Well Mobile Grocery Store had already been serving other communities, this marked its first arrival in Atlantic City. By bringing fresh, affordable groceries directly to the neighborhoods that needed it most, they made healthy eating more accessible and sustainable for local residents. From identifying needs and planning logistics to engaging local partners and delivering results, the Eat Well team demonstrated exceptional compassion, collaboration, and innovation. Their work is a shining example of Virtua’s WE Culture in action.
