The mission of Luther Burbank Home & Gardens is to preserve the home and gardens of Luther Burbank and to share the living legacy of his life, ideals and contributions to the field of horticulture. In furtherance of this mission the organization will strive to: interpret Luther Burbank’s life, work and times for modern audiences; preserve and enhance the artifacts, the site, the structures, and the significant plant materials; serve the needs of Luther Burbank scholars; utilize the talent of volunteers to conduct the Home & Gardens programs; and provide a focus for fund-raising efforts as necessary for the support of the goals established by the Luther Burbank Home & Gardens board.

Introduced in 1901—17 years after Luther Burbank began his experiments—the Shasta daisy was a groundbreaking hybrid named after California’s dazzling Mount Shasta. 🌼❄️ Burbank’s creation, now officially known as Leucanthemum × superbum, became both a beloved garden flower and a cultural icon. Since then, plant breeders have continued his work, introducing many new Shasta daisy varieties we see today.
