AFAR AFAR Andover Foundation forArchaeological Research AFAR is a nonprofit scientific organization founded in 1984 by pioneering archaeologist Richard Scotty MacNeish. MacNeishs student University of Hawaii archaeologist Barry Rolett has served as AFAR President since 1996. Our mission is to pursue archaeological research through the involvement of local communities and the general public. We currently run field projects in French Polynesia.
