As the spring semester of our Community of Rising Environmentalists Saturday program comes to a close this weekend, we’d like to reflect on the amazing accomplishments achieved by our students! 🌳Visited a total of 8 green spaces around the Bronx and Northern Manhattan. 🌟 Removed over 500 lbs. of trash and organic waste from green spaces! ☔️On average, 19 high school and 8 middle students attended each program day, rain or shine. Thanks to our new partnership with ExpandED, we explored STEM themes such as the engineering design process, food chains and webs, and translating greenhouse gas data into art. We also learned about New York City’s natural environment through birding, tree identification walks, and water testing on the Bronx River. Thank you to all of our partners, supporters, and most of all students, who are making this amazing work happen! 🌱🍎🌞🦋 === A medida que el semestre de primavera de nuestro programa de los sábados de la Comunidad de Ambientalistas en Ascenso llega a su fin este fin de semana, ¡nos gustaría reflexionar sobre los increíbles logros logrados por nuestros estudiantes! 🌳Visitaron un total de 8 espacios verdes alrededor del Bronx y el norte de Manhattan. 🌟¡Eliminaron más de 500 libras de basura y desechos orgánicos de los espacios verdes! ☔En promedio, 19 estudiantes de grados 9 a 12 y 8 estudiantes de grados 6-8 asistieron a cada día del programa, llueve o llueve. Gracias a nuestra nueva asociación con Expanded, exploramos temas de STEM tales como el proceso de diseño de ingeniería, cadenas y redes de alimentos, y la traducción de datos de gases de efecto invernadero en arte.
