Recent report argued 1 in 20 women who take abortion pills go to the ER. Abortion advocates point out ER visits don't per se mean serious complications; often people go to the ER because they're worried or scared, but turns out they're not in danger. ER visits may not represent serious *medical* adverse events, but they're still significant emotional (and often finanical) tolls. What subset of women taking abortion pills go to the ER because they didn't expect the level of blood, or pain? The minimizing "two pills and a heavy period" rhetoric is ill-preparing many patients for the actual experience. (fb)
