We invite members and the general public to join us Wednesday, April 12th at 7pm. Our guest speakers will be Fisheries Biologist, Brandon Wambach, from the Wisconsin DNR and Dave Janikowski, owner of Community Insurance Group. Brandon will be providing updates on the state's regulations, condition of the local waterways, and then open it up to question from the crowd. Between the removal of the Horlick Dam, the proposed increases in licensing fees, commercial fishing rule proposals, there will be a LOT to hear about! No pitchforks and torches allowed, as Brandon has always been a great LOCAL liaison for our members! Dave was a wealth of information for me (Josh) after the recent 'remodel' of my prior boat by a fallen tree. He'll be presenting on the methods you can use to effectively cover your boat and all your rigging/gear to ensure you fair replacement. Bring your questions and even your coverage summary if you would like answers. In addition, there will be raffles, updates on the area fishing, Salmon-A-Rama (including volunteer needs), boat registration for the Jackpot Series, and more! We welcome non-members and the public to come join us for the evening, and to join our organization as members. See you at 5th St Yacht Club at 7pm. (fb)

A reminder that our next meeting is Wednesday, April 9th hosting Brandon Wambach of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to discuss activity and updates related to the southern portion of Lake Michigan and its tributaries. Open Q&A to follow. In addition, Dave Jankowski of Community Insurance Group will join us to discuss boat, trailer, and equipment coverages to ensure you're properly covered for risk. The meeting will be held at the 5Th Street Yacht Club in Racine (761 Marquette St, Racine, WI 53404). While we would love to see you all in person, the meeting will be broadcast live on the club's Facebook page for those who can't make it. We'd also like to remind those selling 2nd Amendment raffle tickets to return their sold ticket stubs and cash to Todd at the meeting. If you have additional tickets you aren't able to sell, please bring them to the meeting so that we can get them into the hands of others who NEED them. We have others asking for more to sell and they've all been distributed! The Salmon-a-Rama committee also reminds you to bring a donation of a bottle of wine or liquor for this year's kayak raffle. Please ask places you patronize if they'll donate a bottle to help fill the prize kayak that will be raffled off at Salmon-A-Rama! Jim will collect them at the meeting tomorrow. Lastly, we're looking for each club member to take at least one volunteer slot at Salmon-a-Rama. We'll have the schedule at the meeting and can get you loaded in for this year's event. REMEMBER, this is our club's single largest fundraiser/funding source. It is our duty to step up and take a role in its operation. Needs include Weigh-in/Fish ID/Data Entry, popcorn and daily raffle ticket sales, T-shirt sales, bartending and food sales, kids fishing pond operation, and other ancillary needs (site cleanup/hospitality, garbage can swaps, and such). If every club member took only one 6-hr shift, we would be in GREAT shape. Now is the time to step up! See Josh at the meeting to lock in your shift. The club schedule is also ramping up with our Annual Root River cleanup on April 19th and the Fly Tying and Gear Workshop on April 26th (see Facebook Events Page for all details) Tight lines, Josh Sopczak President Salmon Unlimited, Wisconsin, Inc.
