LOSS OF FEDERAL FUNDING TO NCASA Hello Friends... Last week, the National CASA/GAL Association for Children announced that the U.S. Department of Justice is terminating its grant partnership with the Association through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR US: While this decision is devastating for the National CASA/GAL Association, I want to reassure our volunteers, donors, and partners that CASA for Kids of Flathead County is not currently experiencing significant financial strain as a result. We do not receive any pass-through grants from National CASA/GAL currently. Our funding comes from a strong and diverse blend of state, federal, and local resources—including private foundations, corporate sponsors, and generous individual contributors like YOU. Thanks to this committed network, we are able to continue providing uninterrupted, high-level advocacy services for children in foster care across Flathead County. The recruitment and training of high-quality advocates and adherence to NCASA Standards to Local Programs also continues uninterrupted. Presently, 72 community volunteers are advocating for 126 children in Flathead County's foster care system. In 2024, we served 169 children with this high-level advocacy. Without our local partners, we could not ensure this uninterrupted work. Our hearts go out to the local programs affected by this loss, and we stand in solidarity as National CASA/GAL works through this challenge and appeals the decision.
