Formed in 1960, the ABQ promotes serious brass chamber music through commissioning, performing and recording new works, and with new editions of early music. Founded in 1960, the American Brass Quintet seeks to promote serious brass chamber music. TO ADVANCE PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE ART OF BRASS CHAMBER MUSIC; TO RE-ESTABLISH AND FURTHER THE IMPORTANCE AND APPRECIATION OF CHAMBER MUSIC FOR BRASS INSTRUMENTS; TO PROMOTE THE PERFORMANCE OF BRASS CHAMBER MUSIC; TO INITIATE THE COMPOSITION OF NEW CHAMBER MUSIC FOR BRASS; TO FURTHER PUBLICATION OF BRASS CHAMBER MUSIC; TO ASSIST BRASS MUSIC ARTISTS WHEREVER POSSIBLE AND TO ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES RELATED TO THE FOREGOING.

American Brass Chamber Music Association Inc

The ABQ family mourns the loss of one of our former members, bass trombonist Bob Biddlecome. Bob was a prominent member of the American Brass Quintet from 1963-1991. His contributions to not only to the quintet but to chamber music and the Aspen Music Festival have enhanced the lives of several generations of musicians. His legacy lives on with the current members as we remember his profound influence on the success of the ensemble. Bob just celebrated his 95th birthday on May 9th and was in contact with Ray Mase on that day. Picture left to right: Michael Powell, Dave Wakefield, Ray Mase, Bob Biddlecome & Chris Gekker.
