Big WIN for the Adirondacks in the final State Budget!! $1 million for a carrying capacity study for the Saranac Chain of Lakes! Thank you Senator Pete Harckham and Assemblymember Glick for your leadership and pushing to have this included in the budget! Thank you to Governor Kathy Hochul for agreeing to include this study in the budget. This study is required under the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan and the 2019 Saranac Lakes Wild Forest Unit Management Plan (SLWF UMP). The SLWF includes several constitutionally protected Forest Preserve waterbodies, such as Upper, Middle and Lower Saranac Lakes, Second Pond and Weller Pond.
