Further, the Association provides education to thepublic about the care of parrots in home environments, the need to adopt ratherthan support the breeding of additional birds, and the need for sanctuaryplacement for some parrots. Serenity Park Sanctuary is the sanctuary component ofthe Association for Parrot C.A.R.E. providing permanent placement for parrots inneed as well as work therapy for disabled veterans suffering from war-relatedtrauma. These veterans work with similarly traumatized, rescued parrots whoreside at Serenity Park Sanctuary. The parrots benefit by having permanentplacement in large aviaries that allow them to fly and flock with others of theirsame species while being provided loving care by the veterans.
