South Jersey Behavioral Health Resources Inc (SJBHR) is a non-profit organization providing comprehensive behavioral health services. Residential Services

SJBHR offers a 24/7 residential program for adults diagnosed with mental illness. This program includes:

  • Instructional Programs: Group and individual programs focusing on adult independent living skills.
  • Medication Management: Education and monitoring services.
  • Health Care Monitoring: Regular check-ups and health support.
  • Case Management and Advocacy: Assistance in developing service plans and implementing them.
  • Social and Recreational Activities: Opportunities for engagement.
  • Crisis Intervention Services: Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Transportation Services: Assistance with travel needs.
  • Money Management: Support in financial management.

The residential services are tailored to meet individual needs, offering a range from supervised to independent living options. SJBHR also provides specialized residential programs for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and those with serious physical health problems in addition to mental illness.

Community Support Services

In addition to residential services, SJBHR offers community support services that include linkages to providers, entitlements, insurance assistance, housing support, transportation assistance, activities, employment linkages, support groups, crisis intervention, medication education, and assistance with academic and vocational services. These services aim to increase social and recreational opportunities and provide money management assistance.

Admissions Criteria

To be eligible for services, individuals must:

  • Have a diagnosis of a severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have a history of extended or repeated psychiatric hospitalizations.
  • May have co-existing mental illness and substance abuse.
  • Demonstrate a need for daily support or supervision.

Priority for admissions is often given to referrals from state and county hospitals, as well as other community referring agencies.
