Northern Tier Hardwood Association

The Northern Tier Hardwood Association (NTHA) is a non-profit organization serving the wood industry in the Northern Tier region of Pennsylvania. The focus of the association is to promote long-term economic development through sustainable practices and the advancement of the hardwood industry.

Mission and Objectives

NTHA's primary mission is to foster the sustainable use and development of the region's hardwood resources while promoting economic growth. This includes efforts to enhance forest management, expand secondary wood processing, improve manufacturing methods, and increase awareness of regional hardwoods through education and promotion. Additionally, NTHA emphasizes responsible wood utilization and sustainable forest management, ensuring the preservation of water quality and wildlife habitat.

The association provides a range of services and opportunities for its members, including:

Membership and Regional Impact

NTHA serves as a network for over 100 forest products-related companies across nine counties: Bradford, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Wayne, and Wyoming. The association's efforts contribute to the regional economy by promoting local wood resources and supporting sustainable forest practices.

Environmental Commitments

NTHA actively supports environmental initiatives, including the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), which aims to ensure the long-term sustainability of forest resources. By fostering a culture of sustainability, the association helps maintain the health of natural resources while supporting economic development in the region.
