When Troop 2017 spotted a problem at Heritage Trail Parks, they enlisted the help of Service units 238 and 231 to make the world a better place for our feathered friends. 🪶 The Bluebird boxes in the area had fallen apart after years of use as well as the area’s snow, sleet, and rainstorms. Bluebird populations have declined as they nest in interior hollows of trees. Due to landscaping practices, the birds need an alternative to make their nests and raise the next generation. The girls of Troop 2017, with the help of the Service Units, were able to construct 16 new Bluebird homes and repair four of the existing boxes last fall. While checking on the nesting boxes this spring, they were thrilled to see more than half of them in use! 🪺 💚Way to care for local wildlife, Girl Scouts! (fb)

Meet Gold Award Girl Scout Rylee! 🏅 Rylee’s project focused on increasing support and recruitment for the color guard of the Miami East Marching Band. Color guard provides opportunities for youth to develop important skills like leadership, teamwork, and performance skills. Her project included basic training videos, workshops, and sessions led by experienced color guard members and coaches to help girls learn the fundamentals and boost their confidence.
