Last week, 61 Congressional leaders sent a letter to Chairman Simpson and Ranking Member Pingree of the House Interior Appropriations Committee requesting a minimum of $100M for urban Indian health, maintaining advance appropriations for IHS, and protecting IHS from sequestration. The letter emphasizes the federal government’s trust responsibility to provide federal health services to maintain and improve the health of American Indian and Alaska Native people. https://buff.ly/Lxzs1oK #NativeHealthMatters (fb)

NCUIH recently presented at the IHS National Clinical and Community Workforce Summit in Seattle. Public Health Program Manager Alyssa Smith-Longee, MPH, BSN, RN (Assiniboine/Sioux – Fort Peck) focused on culturally responsive public health campaigns to address critical health issues affecting urban Indian communities. Attendees heard about the strategic planning process, messaging techniques, and community engagement approaches that shape NCUIH’s campaign successes. Big thanks to everyone who joined the conversation! We’re proud to keep uplifting Native voices and innovative health solutions. (fb)
