Why Choose a Group Home. Rakhma filled a community need when founder Shirley Shaw created the first residential socialmodel of care for elders with memory loss in 1984.

At the heart of Rakhma’s mission is the protection of the vulnerable. Yesterday, our South Minneapolis community was shattered by a horrible act of violence against the most vulnerable - children - during Mass at Annunciation Catholic School, less than a mile from the Peace Home. A gunman opened fire through the church’s stained glass windows, killing two children and injuring 17 others.
