Jose Casado is an interior firefighter with Brighton Fire Department as well as a newly elected Director on the Board. As a volunteer firefighter, in addition to responding to fire calls and motor vehicle accidents, Jose takes part in ongoing training—both at the station and at the Monroe County training facilities—to stay sharp and ready for anything. As a Board Member, Jose helps support the volunteers who, in turn, serve and protect our community. “The best part of being a member of BFD is the camaraderie. It’s an incredible feeling to be part of a team of men and women who dedicate their spare time to helping others.” Jose’s dedication as a firefighter inspires him remain prepared, both physically and mentally. “Being a firefighter keeps me accountable for things like exercise, diet, and even making time for church—things that are easy to neglect but essential for both the job and life.” When asked for a fun-fact about himself, Jose shared something that most would not expect – Jose was a semi-finalist in The Academy Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting, a competition run by the Oscars!
